The changes we dread most may contain our salvation.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.’ We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.

The world is not imperfect or slowly evolving along a path to perfection. No, it is perfect at every moment, every sin already carries grace in it.

Being nice is probably the simplest way to happiness there is. If you make a point of being nice to people and yourself in your thoughts and actions, you will drop your most destructive habits. If you want to learn to think nicely, you start by noticing your negative judgements of people and…

Why?

zenmister:

I am here now.

Here I am now.

Now, I am here.

Am I now here?

I, now, am here.

Am I here, now?

Now, here I am.

Now, am I here?

Here now, I am.

I am now here.

Here, now, am I.

I am nowhere.

Self and Ego

zenmister:

Self and Ego, two peas in a pod.

One is human, one is god.

Self is loving, wise and kind.

Ego’s noisy, proud, and blind.

Ego thinks just, I am me.

Self knows, I am sky and tree.

Ego acts like life’s a race.

Self will ride at Ego’s pace.

Self accepts all Ego’s faults.

As Ego learns, Self exalts.

Ego learns to see its game.

Desire, anger, are to blame.

Then, when all is said and done,

Self and Ego become one.

It is important to expect nothing, to take every experience, including the negative ones, as merely steps on the path, and to proceed.

cornholyman:

Sometimes, I think we have it backwards. We spend our efforts trying to create a better future for ourselves. I don’t know that I’ve ever actually created a future. I know for certain that I have created a past. Everything I have ever done is right there behind me.

Time is like the wind. You…
